Existing Verizon customers already had their early bird opportunity when the iPhone became available for pre-sale on February 3rd – it was so hot they sold out! Now, on April 10th, the real revolution begins as the Verizon iPhone became available to the masses. Below you’ll see 42nd Street in NYC where many bundled up and endured frigid weather to snag the veriPhone.

While lines may be shorter than expected, I’d pin that to three major factors: (1) It’s ridiculously cold outside in many US Cities, (2) People who want the iPhone KNOW they want the iPhone and are more inclined to buy online because of it, (3) Many others may be waiting for their contract to end… and then away they go!
Here is a crowd at Fairfax Mall in Fairfax County, VA, waiting to get in on the action:

If you visited any of the stores, it was interesting to note that this seemed to be an all-age affair – from kids to the more “experienced” and everyone in between. And now let’s meet a few of the lucky new Verizon iPhone owners. First up, William Snow of Richmond, VA who happened to be the very first person in line, having waited since 4AM:

How about Billy Van Atten of Washington DC whose kids (Billy and Reagan) were whisked out of their bed in their pajamas so dad could rush to the store and snag the Verizon iPhone!

Here we’ve got Brad Race of Arlington, VA who must have taken his name seriously and raced to the store – looks like he was fifth in line and it paid off. I think the smile tells the story.
There will be a lot of people smiling today and far into the future. The Verizon iPhone has been a mythical creature we’ve all hoped existed or would some day exist, and today it’s like an iChristmas for everyone who can’t stand using anything but Verizon. And trust me, I know a lot of people like that.

Did you visit a Verizon store to check out the iPhone or even just to see the crowds? Let us know your experience in the comments or in our Verizon iPhone Forum!
