Apple Looking to Acquire Developers to Help Improve iOS Notification System?

Here’s an excerpt:

Apple’s pop-up notification system for new text messages, voicemails and the like has often been criticized as one of the weakest parts of the iOS. Notifications are intrusive, modal and often cryptic. It’s a mess.

HP/Palm’s webOS banner notification system, on the other hand, has been widely praised for its utility and ease of use. And from this week’s preview, it looks to be getting better.

Specifically, Apple is looking to acquire a small team of iOS developers to rebuild the notification system. Cult of Mac suspects that Apple is looking at Boxcar from App Remix, which is an app that pushes notifications to a myriad of services.

Lastly, Cult of Mac notes the return of Rich Dellinger to, who pioneered webOS’s banner notification system.

Long story short, the iOS notification system has been a big complaint for many users, simply because it isn’t robust enough to do or display what many iOS customers are looking for. At any rate, it appears that Apple is looking to improve this system sometime in the near future.
