[This post assumes you’re already familiar with the mega camera app that is Camera+. If you’re not, this quick look at v2.0 might help.]
I don’t want to write too much here because I’m actually unsure of how many of you are brave enough to scroll down this far. But if you’re here, that probably means you’re interested in some of the 10,000 details for the Camera+ 2.1 (currently $0.99) changelog. I won’t go through them all, but here’s what I’ve noticed in v2.1 so far:
- Saving photos straight to the camera roll is an option that should have been here all along, so it’s great to have it now. You can also choose to save to both the Lightbox and the Camera Roll without really losing very much speed. I love this option because it means the original photo is saved and I can do whatever I want with the picture in the Lightbox without worrying about messing up.
- The changelog says that the application of effects and borders has been sped up, but I’ve experienced the opposite, as least as far as borders for images are concerned. There seems to be a bug when applying simple/styled borders which causes them to take about 10-15 seconds to load…at which point Camera+ may crash. Here’s hoping for a hot fix soon.
- The app does seem just a little bit snappier overall, though. Saving has always been one of Camera+’s biggest weak points, and although I’d still love to see background saving, five seconds to save an edited picture on the 3GS isn’t too brutal.
I’m almost always a fan of these kinds of “general optimization” updates, but if you’re the type to really look forward to new features, tap tap tap has thrown in some very obvious teasers that new stuff is likely a-coming version 2.2.
