Content Streaming, Geolocation, and Social Aspects, to be Focus of MobileMe Revamp?

mobileme.jpgCult of Mac is reporting that they have received information that Apple’s rumored MobileMe revamp will focus on cloud-based content streaming, location-based services, and social aspects.

Among the many services Apple is working on are:

– A live video-streaming service like Ustream
– A location-based check-in system like Gowalla or Foursquare
– A geo-tagging system codenamed “Tokens” that tags real-world locations, like Facebook Places on steroids.

All of this new content will reportedly be delivered through a “dynamic webpage” that is continuously updated with new information and activity such as locations from their iOS device, photos, videos and so on.

“The concept is that you would have you own website that’s dynamic, all based on what you are doing at that moment,” said our source. “Apple thinks of it as having a webserver in your pocket… everything will be dynamically updated to MobileMe.”

The report also mentions “tokens” which would allow users to tag locations with content such as photos, reviews and the like that could be seen by other MobileMe subscribers.

This is the perfect time to mention that there have been hints that Apple is looking into adding more “social” features to MobileMe. Specifically, hints of a “Find my Friends” feature has been found in beta builds of iOS 4.3.
