Recommended: Engadget’s Video Preview of Mac OS X Lion

MacOSXLion

There are lots of screenshots and videos on Mac OS X Lion round the web ever since the preview version was released by Apple. Yesterday Nilay Patel of Engadget posted the best quick overview I’ve seen so far.

He covers a lot of the new iOS-style features, as well as many other notable new features. One odd change, that Patel is not overly fond of (and I definitely agree) is that by default Dashboard no longer appears over the top of your current screen, but is in a space of its own. Not a worry though, because this (along with many similar new settings) can be changed back in System Preferences.

I’m a mobile devices guy. I love my MacBook Pro, it’s my solid, reliable workhorse – but I very rarely get excited about anything to do with its UI. Until now. I’ve said this before recently and I find I can’t stop saying it – the more I see of Lion, the more I want to be running it like yesterday.

Maybe it’s just the little iOS touches that are coming to it, but I really don’t think so. I think it just looks like a big step forward for OS X. Honestly can’t wait to be running Lion.

How about you guys? What do you think of Lion? Are you feeling keen to upgrade this summer?
