A Few More Small Facts Regarding Today’s Announcements

I have just a few more bits of information to comment on regarding’s today’s events.

First, the new iMovie and Garageband applications that Apple introduced for the iPad today have different iPad compatibilities. That is, iMovie will only run on the new iPad 2 (and iPhone 4 and 4th-gen iPod touch), which makes sense considering the lack of cameras on the original iPad. I would also wager it has at least some to do with the iPad 2’s A5 processor, which offers enough horsepower to edit video on such a large screen.

Next, the new Garageband will work on both the original iPad and iPad 2. So there’s at least that. Both iMovie and Garageband will be available on March 11th on the App Store for $4.99

Lastly, the iOS 4.3 will not be coming to the new CDMA (Verizon) iPhone 4. It will however be available for the GSM (AT&T) iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, 3rd-gen iPod touch, and 4th-gen iPod touch. In short, the CDMA iPhone 4 will stay at 4.2.6 for the time being, but isn’t really missing any of the features offered in the iOS 4.3 update. In fact, the biggest feature in the iOS 4.3 update will be the personal Wi-Fi hotspot.
