Here’s the thing about the video I’ve embedded above: it’s actually about the Android version of Evernote that was released in early February, but I’m thinking it could be very relevant to an upcoming update to Evernote for iOS. I’m basing this hunch on a little bit of text at the bottom of the official Evernote 4.0 release post:
Upcoming releases will include more of your requested features, including shared notebooks, Notebook Stacks, and in-app editing of notes with styled text and multimedia.
I’m actually surprised that Android seems to have the same trouble that iOS does with editing rich text (i.e. it can’t seem to do it without resorting to a few tricks), but I think it’s very likely that the iOS version of Evernote will see a similar implementation for editing files with existing rich text (bullet points, bolded font, etc.) and multimedia. In other words, we probably won’t be able to create bullet points or add bolded fonts from our mobile devices for a while, but we should be able to edit these files and copy any styling that currently exists in a note without bothering with those pesky “copy” or “append” buttons that pop up today.
