Wifi connections are stable; thus far I’ve used it on 4 different wireless networks without a hiccup. I presume it will work with WEP, but being in the information security biz, *I* won’t work with WEP.

Verizon does indeed have their own model with a CDMA radio and a data plan.

What are you experiencing with:
– WiFi connections – are they stable? Will it work with WEP encryption?
– Does Verizon really have a data plan for the 3G model, or do they require the extra MIFi device?

Tried downloading a gyro utilizing app (says it was for the iPad 2)….. hmmm said ‘incompatible with iPad… No gyro detected’

I got in line at the Apple Store La Cantera in San Antonio at about 2:30 pm, and was about number 115 in line. By the time I got to close to entering the store, a young lady from the Apple Store was there informing each of us if what we wanted was available. I had decided to get a black 32 GB+3G AT&T, but there were none to be had, so I decided to get the same model only with Verizon.

As in all other major product launches, I enjoyed meeting fellow enthusiasts, and the weather was perfect – cool, breezy, and we got to sit in the shade for 99% of the time we were in line. Took a collapsible chair this time, and that sure beat standing in line for 3.5 hours. By 6:08, I had my iPad 2 in hand and was walking out of the store.

Joe, I agree with your assessment about iPad 2 feeling to way considerably less than the original – one just has to hold it to appreciate the difference.

Oh, and, yeah, iPad 2 is much faster loading pages and doing just about anything. By the way, mine had 82% battery left when I turned it on, for whatever that’s worth.

The smart cover does work very well, but like Joe, I need to find something to protect the back.

The iPAD 2 will not only devastate the sales of laptops & e-readers; but will also have a huge inverse halo effect on other Apple products like the Verizon iPhone.

With this introduction, many, especially the enterprise users, will clearly see the advantage of buying into Apple’s ecosystem- one OS, three maybe more devices.

And finally, with the iPAD 2, other copycat tablet makers are going to find it almost impossible to gain any traction on all fronts- sales, developers, apps, third party hardware support.

Now truly, the Apple juggernaut, is going to be devouring all competitors and especially Google.
