Thomas mentioned Flare for Mac– a new photo editing / effects app for the Mac – yesterday. I’ve never really mastered any photo effects apps on the Mac, and this one sounds simple and fun, so I thought I’d give it a whirl.
I’ve only just installed it a little while ago – but so far I like it. It is very simple to use, and easy to dabble with effects, quickly undo the ones you don’t like, and generally mess about with without having much clue what you’re up to. Ideal for someone like me, who’s a clod at all this kind of thing.
I already know my favorite effect, based purely on its name (which I believe is the most rigid of tests for any top-notch effect): it’s the ‘Captain Proton’ effect used in the image above. I’m hoping that I’ll find one called Dr. Doofenshmirtz as I work my way around the app. 
I’ll share more thoughts on Flare as I get to know it better.
