When I first received this iTunes email I thought it was quite a helpful idea. It turns out that it’s not so much though. It’s a reminder that an App Store subscription is soon coming to a point where it will auto-renew or expire. Now that the App Store allows subscriptions for newspaper and magazine apps and other similar content this should be a handy thing to receive.
It’s made far less helpful by how vague the email actually is. Note that it says ‘one or more’ of the following subscriptions will auto-renew or expire. Then it lists the items – but as you can see above it just says ‘ Weekly subscription’ without naming what the subscription is for.
So I have to click an iTunes link and enter my password to see that this is for The Daily newspaper app. Not a huge thing, but it would be a heck of a lot easier if the email could just list specifics, and you’d be able to determine whether you want to take any action. If you don’t, you’d save a click and the time spent logging into iTunes.
