I’d say that both “app”and “store” are very common words, and putting them together isn’t just being simple, it’s very generic. So while I can see how Apple has built the App Store brand up over the last couple of years, I don’t think they deserve to trademark the name. That’s like trademarking “Neat Things” and not letting anybody else use it
