iPad 2 Launch Still a Go for Friday in UK

With tight supplies seen here in the US, and Apple’s supply chain reportedly disrupted by the disaster in Japan, it is being reported that the iPad 2 launch, at least for our friends in the UK, is still on schedule.

Here’s an excerpt from the TechRadar report:

Many suspected that the launch of the skinny new Apple tablet would be pushed back due to stock demand in the US – a similar thing happened with the launch of the first iPad last year.

However, Apple told us, “Everything that is on the website still holds true; the website says 25 March and that’s when it’ll be.”

This may or may not be a departure in plans, seeing as Apple announced at the introduction of the iPad 2, that the device would be made available internationally in 25 countries on March 25th.

Will the UK be the only one to see the launch on Friday? I doubt it, and thus, expect supplies to draw even tighter in the coming weeks, as Apple expands their rollout.
