AppleInsider is reporting that some iPad 2 customers are experiencing freezing when using FaceTime. Specifically, the issue seems to arise from the use of the front-facing camera. Even when closing out of the application and returning to it, a still image of what was last captured before the freeze, remains. Enough users are experiencing this problem that it has spawned three separate threads in Apple’s Support forums.
This issue is reportedly temporarily solved when the user does a hard restart of their iPad 2, while others have had to resort to a full software restore via iTunes. The problem does seem to return over time however. The report even goes on to give a second-hand account where a Verizon employee claimed that in-store demo units experienced this problem “a lot”.
I seem to be repeating myself a lot as of late, but as with Apple’s other minor product bugs, it’s unknown if they are aware of this issue at this time, or if a fix is in the works. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
