Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is out, ladies and gentlemen. After months and months of awesome, pixelated screenshots and kickass trailers, this $4.99 “exploratory action adventure with an emphasis on audiovisual style” is available for purchase on the App Store.
I’ve read a few reviews (like this one from TouchArcade, and this excellent write-up on Eurogamer) that have left me with the impression that S&S EP is really more of a gorgeous experience, than a great game. That’s probably still enough to get me to try it, but it is a little disappointing to hear that the awesome audiovisual style feels more cosmetic instead of something that’s really woven right into the core of the game.
I was also surprised to discover that S&S EP is an iPad-only app. That’s actually not all that surprising now that I think about it, but for the last few months I was under the impression that I could play this title on my 3GS. Drat.
