Kodak Continues to Seek $1 Billion From Apple and RIM in Patent Dispute

kodak-logo1.jpegReuters is reporting that the ITC (International Trade Commission) has announced that they will take a second look at their preliminary decision that ruled in Apple and RIM’s favor. The case is regarding Kodak’s claims that both Apple and RIM infringed upon patents held by Kodak, who in turn are seeking $1 billion in licensing fees, which they had managed to soak out of Samsung and LG previously regarding the same patents.

This patent suit goes back all the way to January of 2010, where Kodak filed complaints against Apple and RIM, a month later the ITC agreed to take a look at the case. Apple then fired back with their own suit in April of that year, claiming that Kodak had infringed on patents held by Apple. A month later the ITC agreed to review that separate case, but has yet to move on it, nearly a year later.

Not too much here to sink your teeth into, but it does show that both parties aren’t backing down. With a $1 billion at stake, who can blame them?
