The Jerusalem Post (via AppleInsider) is reporting that Apple is looking to open a 5000-square-meter retail location in, you guessed it, Jerusalem. This retail location would also house the world’s first “Apple Digital Library”, whatever that means. The report also claims that several Apple bigwigs had toured the site recently, and wanted Israel’s largest store to be in that city for “symbolic reasons”.

Personally, I think the report sounds slightly hyperbolic, but we’ll see, because you know as well as I, that Apple keeps their retail plans secret, just like everything else.

Next up, AppleInsider goes on to cite an ifoAppleStore report that claims that Apple is seeking to expand their SoHo store. Specifically, Apple’s name appeared on a lease of a 5000-foot space that was once used by the U.S. Postal Service. Apple has also acquired demolition permits, and ground core samples have been drilled. It appears Apple is moving forward.

Moving forward on what?, you may be asking. Well, the USPS kept a smaller office around the corner from the larger USPS office (that Apple now occupies) until is closed down in 2009. In short, Apple may be knocking out a few walls to expand the current store’s space in the near future.

We’ll see if either of these predictions come true. The Jerusalem story sounds a little shaky, but it sounds as if the early stages of the SoHo expansion are already under way.
