Camera+ 2.2 for iPhone: Clarity!

Camera+ (currently $0.99) revealed its major new feature in the v2.2 update yesterday, and it’s called Clarity.

From a few play shots on a 3GS and iPhone 4, it looks to be a one-touch button that increases the ‘exposure’ or ‘fill light’ fields, essentially turning really dark photos into brighter, but grainer ones. I really like Camera+, but I’m not quite ready to pronounce this as “one of the biggest breakthroughs” in image processing … at least not until I’ve taken more pictures with it.

[Here is one example shot, taken with an iPhone 4 and a fish-eye lens]

I also want to quickly one of the “minor” changes towards the end of the change log: the modification of tap-to-focus. You can still use two fingers to adjust auto-focus and exposure (still a killer feature), but Camera+ now features a small “+” symbol that lets you do all of this with just one hand (even better!).
