I knew I was going to lose it, but iOS 4.1 had a WiFi glitch that kept disconnecting me from the Internet, so I wanted to upgrade.

Knowing now that a jailbreak will be available for my new software is awesome.

@FS, Yes, but save your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella or iSHSH just in case if you don’t have them saved automatically via Cydia.

@Klajdi, Redsn0w and Pwnagetool achieve the same goal, just differently. Pwnagetool has more of an easy user interface, where as Redsn0w is check your options and press buttons.

No it will not be as simple as jailbreakme…
you will most likely have to download the firmware from the internet
than open the program and choose the firmware you just downloaded

you will than have to do a forced upgrade by putting your ipod into dfu mode, than holding shift while you click restore on itunes

than you have to hope that theres no problems…sometines itune wont let you use a custom firmware but most times it works
