Next-Generation iPhone Coming in June- Yes, No Maybe?

Let’s start from start with the ETNews.co.kr claims that Apple will be releasing the next-generation iPhone later in June, after Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference that is slated to begin on June 6th. This would be a break from Apple’s usual pattern of the last several years of introducing new iPhone hardware at WWDC. However, as has been reported, this year’s WWDC will be focused on Software only, and will not introduce any new hardware (read: iPhone). The report also claims that South Korea will be one of the first countries to receive the new iPhone and SK Telecom and KT will be the carriers
Here’s an excerpt:

‘iPhone 5,’ the next model of iPhone 4, will be released on the coming 4th week of June. In the midst of the iPhone 5 postponement rumors, Apple has confirmed that iPhone 5 will be released as planned and it will be released simultaneously in Korea through SK Telecom and KT.

Instead of WWDC, the announcement would be spun off into it’s own media even where Apple CEO Steve Jobs would be doing the introduction.

Coming right off the heals of that report, is The Loop. They claim that there will be no new iPhone in June. Period.

Reports on Tuesday suggest Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 at the end of June. This is not true. My sources said today that rumors of an iPhone 5 release at the end of June were completely false.

I’m of two minds with this. On the one hand, you couldn’t muster a larger crowd of people, who are interested in just such a new device, than the sold-out crowd of software developers at WWDC. On the other hand, maybe that is why Apple would delay the announcement. That is, not to take away from the conference, and the new software they they plan to introduce there. We’ll undoubtedly get a look at iOS 5 and the final stages of Lion. Maybe Apple doesn’t want to drown out that news with a new iPhone announcement.

With all of that said, The Loop, specifically Jim Dalrymple has a rock solid track record regarding Apple. His sources are gold. In fact, he was the one to first claim that there would be no new hardware would be announced at this year’s WWDC.
