Neven Mrgan on broken iOS icons

I’m no designer, but this definitely bugs me, too, and I’m glad that Neven Mrgan (the artist behind The Incident) has decided to share some constructive criticism on his Tumblog. You see those extra white pixels along the top and bottom corners of the CNN app? Those really, really shouldn’t be there.

As it turns out, they’re apparently a result of people using bad templates, and the problem could easily be solved by simply filling the whole square (no masks) and save the icon without any transparencies.

Neven also points out another little pet peeve of mine: app icons with Really Fuc…Long Names that just get truncated.
