Quick Tip for Making Pastebot Mucho Speedier

Pastebot

Pastebot is the superb clipboard manager app for iOS – that allows you to very quickly and easily share clipboard contents from your iOS devices to your PCs. It’s an app I use every day, and use a lot every day.

This quick tip may be an obvious one to many of you, but it took me a while to make use of it, because I’m lazy. One of the best things about using Pastebot is that it’s fast. Copy something on your iPhone (e.g.a photo, a block of text), open Pastebot, tap on the copied item, tap on ‘Paste to Mac’ and voila the copied item appears exactly where you want on the Mac.

The thing is though, with heavy usage, the clipboard gets very full very fast, and Pastebot gets less and less snappy as it does. I blissfully ignored this until recently, when I started using Pastebot on my iPad 2. Once I did, I couldn’t help but notice that Pastebot on the iPad 2, a fresh install with no clipboard baggage, was light years faster than Pastebot on my iPhone 4, which had heaps and heaps of old clipboard contents due to be lack of maintenance.

So my quick tip to get Pastebot right back to its super-quick, happy self is to make a habit of editing your clipboard contents within the app. To do so, just tap the handy little Edit button at the top right of the Clipboard screen in Pastebot, select the items you want to delete by tapping on their radio buttons, and hit the Delete button.

A little bit of trimming and maintenance of this will keep Pastebot performing as fast as it was when you first loved it for being so fast. Smile
