Don’t want to sound rude but you have to attach the smartcover first, then attach the cover. The hinges are partly covered.

I can imagine what sort of result you got with the Dremel. I’ve been using a Dremel for forty years – my skills are of a high order – but I wouldn’t attempt a bodge like that.

I did the same thing, although not with a Dremel, I have actually modified two Feather cases for the iPad 2 on the first I traced the outline of the Smart Cover onto the Feather and cut it out with a craft knife, which worked out great. For the second one I used a pair of end-nippers to cut out the notch. I agree, the modified Feather and Smart Cover combination works great.
