Apple Hiring Engineers to Build ‘Cloud Services’

CloudComputing-150x150.jpgAppleInsider is reporting on a new Apple corporate job listing for a “Cloud Systems Software Engineer.” This position would join a small team that will be building “the future of cloud services at Apple,” by writing software that “forms the foundation” of future products.

The ideal candidate for the position would be familiar with scalable and extensible systems and will work with other engineering teams at Apple to build new web services.

This isn’t surprising at all considering both Mac OS Lion, and iOS 5 are rumored to have online storage and cloud-based features, such as Lion’s Airdrop and Safe Deposit Box features. Plus, there is also a MobileMe overhaul reportedly in the works. And to top all of that off, there could be a new cloud-base music streaming service from Apple, wherein user-purchased content could be stored in the cloud (alongside your own local storage) and would be streamable to other internet-connected devices (kinda like Amazon cloud drive).

I will not make a crack about the North Carolina Data Center, and how it will solve all of our problems.
