TechCrunch is reporting that Apple is in talks with Nuance Communications, a speech recognition company, who’s services are already widely used in many of Apple’s products. The report suggests that Apple will be teaming up with Nuance to bring speech recognition to iOS 5.
This wouldn’t be a stretch considering that Nuance fully powers software by Siri, which was bought up by Apple last year. Throw this information on top of the fact that iOS 5 is rumored to incorporate Siri’s artificial intelligence, and voice control, an image begins to form.
Finally, the report notes that Apple is not likely to buy Nuance, considering the company’s $6 billion market capitalization. Plus, Nuance is reportedly a difficult company to negotiate with. More likely is that Apple will in depth license agreement between the two companies.
