Still Not Over: Apple Being Sued for Location Data, Again

maps.pngThe Loop is reporting that Apple is under fire again for it’s location database of their iOS devices. The suit, filed by Lymaris M. Rivera Diaz, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. The suit also hits Pandora and The Weather Channel, claiming that it purposefully intercepts identifying information. Additionally, the suit leaves room for other defendants to be added later.

As for the technical details, the suit claims that Apple is using the Unique Device IDs and sends that, plus location information, to advertisers. So, Apple is facing six charges ranging from fraud, to unfair trade practices. Unsurprisingly, the suit is seeking monetary damages.

Just last month Apple faced a similar suit, claiming that the company tracks users without their consent. Plus, Apple just finished up giving testimony to a U.S. Senate hearing regarding the matter. And, the company did issue a fix for any problem that might have been there, just the other day.
