I’ve been looking for an iPad game to sink some time into, and thanks to a tweet from Top iPhone Resource, I was alerted to the fact that the Warpgate series of space conquest games have gone free today. This means that you can trek all around the universe, buying new ships, weapons, and other l337 space loot, without having to pay a cent.

Warpgate ($4.99) and Warpgate HD ($7.99) look like meaty downloads and from what I’ve seen from a few minutes of gameplay this morning, very engrossing games, to boot. The games are about a year old now, and although the graphics pale in comparison to offerings like Infinity Blade, I’m hoping the sheer depth of the gameplay will more than make up for it.
