Foxconn Claims Recent Plant Explosion Will Not Cause iPad 2 Production Problems

foxconnLogo.jpgChina Times is reporting that iPad 2 production will not be affected due to the recent blast experienced at Foxconn’s Chengdu, China, facility. This report stems from a recent statement made by Foxconn. Here’s an excerpt:

Sources said the explosion at Foxconn Technology Groups Chengdu plant did not affect the assembly line of iPad. Foxconn assured major suppliers at an online meeting yesterday that under the principle of orders placed and goods delivered as usual, the production of iPad 2 would not be delayed and related iPhone devices and new iPad products would still be in mass production in the third quarter.

For whatever reason, production seems to be unaffected. That begs the question of where the blast took place if it was capable of killing three (up one from the previous report), and injuring many more, but did not knock the whole plant offline. We’ll keep you posted as the story develops.
