iPad 2 Panel Suppliers Boost Production, Apple May Finally Meet Customer Demands

Screen shot 2011-02-22 at 9.28.23 PM.pngA recent report surfaced claiming that Apple was aiming for 12-14 million iPad 2 unit shipments in Q3 of this year. A new report suggesting that touch panel manufactures produced 5 million panels in June and are planning to produce another 5 million in July, has surfaced giving credence to this rumor.

Why is this important? Well, a shortage of display supplies has been one of the largest bottlenecks when it comes to Apple’s supply chain. In other words, Apple can’t pump out as many iPad 2s as they would like, due to component shortages, in this case, displays.

I would expect to see the wait period for new orders of the iPad 2 purchased via Apple’s online store to finally reach the “within 24 hours” shipping timeframe we’ve all been waiting for.
