After the Mac App Store went on the fritz last night, Apple has scheduled maintenance from 9:00AM to 4:00PM PDT today, July 13th, 2011. Apple sent out emails to registered developers yesterday evening with this information , warning them that iTunes Connect (the developer portal) would also be out of commission for the day.
This outage seems to be sporadic, and only affecting certain geographic areas. Plus, we can’t confirm that this maintenance is connected to the outage, but with the announcement on such short notice, what else could it be for?
Apple needs to get the App Store back up and running if they plan to release OS X Lion tomorrow, as has been rumored. However, that seems less and less likely.
