Purported Photos of Next-Generation iPad Dock Connector Surfaces

Apple.pro is reporting on photos that have surfaced claiming to be that of a dock connector and ribbon cable for the next-generation iPad. These parts are not specific enough to give a hint of about the device’s specs. However, the outside connector piece is white, instead of black as found on the iPad 2.

If you extrapolate further, a change in the connector, could indicate a change in the case design for the next-generation iPad. Worth noting, the dock connector is white on the white iPhone 4. The connectors were black on the first iPad model, and black on the current iPad models. You don’t see it because it’s embedded in the curved aluminum casing.

This of course, doesn’t necessarily mean this photo is of a legitimate part. It does share a similar, but not the same, form-factor to the dock connector part that is currently used in shipping iPad models.

This is all speculative, but it’s the first we’ve seen of a possible part for a next-generation iPad. Expect more parts to leak if Apple really is planning to release a new iPad this fall as other rumors have suggested. Or, it could be a part for the rumored 2012 iPad model. Either way, it’s purely speculation.
