iOS 4.3.4 Released – Patches Exploit Used in Latest Jailbreak

Apple has released iOS 4.3.4 (and iOS 4.2.9 for the Verizon iPhone) today – the latest updates to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch operating system.

These updates were promised by Apple a week ago and their primary purpose is to patch (fix) a PDF-related security vulnerability in iOS that could be used to develop malicious software targeted at iOS devices. This security hole is used by the latest iOS jailbreak via the jailbreakme.com site.

So, if you’re happily jailbroken on iOS 4.3.3 (especially on the iPad 2) you’ll likely want to hold off on this latest iOS update – as jailbreakme.com will likely no longer work once you apply it. You can remain jailbroken and still defend your device against the PDF vulnerability by installing the PDF Patcher 2 app from Cydia.
