Thunderbolt LED Cinema Displays Coming Other Hardware Refresh

A few part numbers recently surfaced a week or so ago, claiming to be that of MacBook Air and Mac Pro models. Since then, it has been found by MacRumors that the MacBook Air numbers are legitimate, but the “Mac Pro” part numbers have reportedly turned out to be that of new Thunderbolt-equipped LED Cinema Displays.

Seemingly as a move of confirmation, Apple’s own site now hosts new images of the LED Cinema Display working alongside compatible Macs while displaying the standard desktop image coming with OS X Lion. Furthermore, the URL to the LED Cinema Display includes “MC914” which is the part number that was formerly thought to be associated with new MacBooks.

The images are also telling. The new LED displays are sitting beside current hardware, which suggests that there will be no new case designs, for say, the Mac Pro, in the coming weeks. Granted, Apple wouldn’t want to leak that anyway. Also worth noting, is that one image shows two LED displays DaisyChained to single machine- further proof that the new displays will indeed be equipped with Thunderbolt I/O.
