Apple Announces Record-Breaking Q3 Profits- $7.31 Billion with $28.57 in Revenue

apple_hq.jpgApple has released it’s financial results for the fiscal third quarter (second calendar quarter) of 2011. Apple announced revenue of $28.57 billion and profit of $7.31 billion, which works out to be $7.79 per diluted share. Compare this to the year-ago quarter which saw $15.7 billion in revenue and $3.25 billion in profit. International sales made up 62% of Apple’s quarterly revenue. This quarter was an all-around record breaking quarter for Apple, even above previous holiday quarters.

Breaking down the numbers, Apple shipped 3.95 million Macs, which is up 14% over the year-ago quarter. Apple also shipped 20.34 million iPhone units, which is up 142% from the year-ago quarter. Continuing the downward trend, Apple sold 7.54 million iPods in the quarter, which is a 20% unit decline from the year-ago quarter. Lastly, Apple shipped 9.25 million iPads this quarter, which is up 183% from the year-ago quarter.

Apple suspects they will make $25 billion for the fourth fiscal quarter in 2011. That quarter will wrap up at the end of September. Amazing numbers.
