For the longest time, we’ve heard that Apple had been considering the use of organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology in their products, specifically their iOS devices. Now, the Korea Times is reporting that no deal for OLED components is in place.
The report goes on to say that Apple will more likely stick with LCD technology, which is battle-hardened in the market, and is reliable. This is especially true for Apple’s hypothetical television sets, and holds true for their smaller iOS devices. The company simply hasn’t shown any interest in it.
Of course, that invokes the concept of an Apple television set. Some have sworn that Apple is interested in entering the Television market. However, Apple has stated that the their set-top box, the Apple TV, is only a “hobby”, so I find it difficult to believe that Apple wants to make a huge push into the television market.
