iTunes Match Allows Both Downloading and Streaming of Music

itunes_golden_ticket-1.jpgWe are now hearing that Apple’s new iTunes Match service, which was rolled out yesterday to developers, offers both the downloading and streaming of content. We have also confirmed this fact internally.

iTunes Match is of course, Apple’s forthcoming $24.99/year service that allows users with large libraries of content they didn’t necessarily acquire all through iTunes, to store it on iCloud.

The service will scan your drive, and match it to the content they already have on their servers. If something doesn’t match, they’ll upload it for you, making your library of up to 25,000 songs, available for download or streaming at 256kbps.

Prior to today, it was uncertain if the service would only offer downloading, or if streaming would be wrapped up in that package as well. Now we know.
