Marked for Mac Makes Markdown Even More Accessible

One of my beefs with the excellent iA Writer for Mac is that it doesn’t allow me to simply write in Markdown and copy the resulting HTML to my clipboard. Live Previews in Writer are fantastic, but I’m a little disappointed that all I can do is export to HTML or RTF. The reason I write in Markdown is so that I can make text formatting in WordPress as simple as possible, and nothing works better than pasting formatted HTML en masse. Actual HTML files are useless for my purposes.

Luckily for me, my latest little Mac App Store purchase, Marked, seems to be doing the trick.

Once I’ve loaded my text file into Marked I can simply watch it for live previews, print or save the resulting HTML preview, or copy the HTML right to my clipboard. What’s more, Marked finally lets me use whatever text app I want to use, regardless of whether it supports Markdown. All of this flexibility for a mere $3 is money well spent in my book.
