Apple Expected to Become World’s Top Smartphone Vendor in 2011

DigiTimes Research is reporting that they project Apple to be the world’s top smartphone vendor in 2011, with a whopping 19% of the market. That calculates out to 86.4 million units. The former leader, Nokia, is expected to see a shipment drop of 25%, or under 75 million units. [Read More]

New iPhone 5 Cases Suggest Much Wider Device on the Horizon

MacRumors got their hands on a couple of the hard cases, currently vein manufacture red for the the iPhone 5 by Chinese case makers. Based on the measurements they took of the case, it is believed that the new iPhone will be 4.7″ x 2.6″. The design of the case also suggests a tapered design, starting at .30″ at the top, and slimming out to .065″ to the bottom. That’s far thinner than an iPod touch. If I had to wager, this won’t be the dimensions to the new iPhone’s design. However, I do believe the overarching “tapered” design will be what the next iPhone looks like. [Read More]

Apple Still Wrestling with Samsung, Galaxy Tab 7.7 Pulled in Germany

As Apple continues to fight with Samsung in the European Union in regards to the Galaxy Tab line copying Apple’s designs, the company has just won a preliminary injunction against Samsung. The injunction requires that Samsung pull the Galaxy Tab 7.7 from the show floor at the IFA show in Berlin, along with the ban of the resale of the device. [Read More]

Apple Finally Shipping 27″ Thunderbolt Displays to Stores

Earlier this year Apple updated their LED display to offer Thunderbolt, Apple’s new high-speed I/O. Well, Apple is now beginning to ship those displays to stores. It would be safe to assume that customer orders will be filled soon as well.
