Apple’s (soon to open) Grand Central Store Looks Great

I’m not usually one for fawning over new Apple stores, much as I agree they are always beautifully done. But I do find some of their recent flagship locations, like Covent Garden in London, to be hugely impressive and also all the more compelling when they open in a location I know well.

The current prime example of that is the soon-to-open Apple store in New York’s Grand Central terminal. I grew up about an hour away from New York and traveled back and forth to the city by train, via Grand Central, often. It always struck me as an incredible building. A huge structure – even intimidating at times.

It’s a perfect place for an Apple flagship store, and it’s going to have one very soon. According to 9to5Mac training for Apple Store Grand Central staff has already begun and the store will open at the end of November.

The spyshots of the store’s location and the renderings of the Apple store (like the one above by Rob Bennett for The Wall Street Journal) look spectacular.

I haven’t been back to New York in a long time, but whenever I do manage that I’ll definitely revisit Grand Central and check out this store – heck maybe even buy something. Smile
