Apple’s Rumored Ultra-Thin 15-Inch Nearing Production

design_unibody2.jpgMacotakara is following up a MacRumors report from earlier this year which claimed that Apple is working on an ultra-thin 15-inch notebook similar in form factor to the MacBook Air. This new Macotakara report claims that Apple is currently wrapping up development of the LCD components of the new machine.

Worth noting is the fact that the report calls the new notebook a “MacBook Air”, which may or may not turn out to be the case. That is, we have heard reports earlier this year, which suggest that the MacBook Pro line will be seeing an overhaul next year, and will adopt a MacBook Air-esque form factor going forward. A 15-inch model would fit in that category nicely.

In other words, it seems likely that these new ultra-thin Mac notebooks will be what replaces the MacBook Pro line, either under the same “Pro” moniker or a new name. It’s also unknown as to how Apple will handle this form factor transition, and what the company will do with their existing MacBook Air line. Will all of Apple’s notebooks be merged into one line? Who knows at this point.

This report does nothing more than reinforce that Apple is indeed working on a 15-inch ultra-thin MacBook Air-like notebook computer.
