Here’s What Windows Phone 7.5 Would Look Like on the iPhone

Windows Phone 7.5 may not have been enough to convince Patrick or Brandon to keep their WP7 devices, but there’s no denying the minimal beauty of its Metro UI. The simple blocks of colour, the super-sized text, and the live tiles somehow seem more hi-tech to me than either Android or iOS. It’s a pity then that I’ll likely never get my hands on one for real testing.

My only consolation is this cool little demo at http://aka.ms/wpdemo, which shows you exactly what the Metro UI would look like on Apple hardware. It’s not a terribly deep tour, but it looks incredible – especially if you add it to the home screen and launch it as a full-screen web app. The only downside to the full screen goodness, of course, is that the iPhone has no back button, which means that you get completely stuck if you go too far into a specific menu. Whoops!
