Instapaper 4.1 for iPhone and iPad

Instapaper’s latest update to version 4.1 has re-solidified its position at the top of the “read later” food chain. The six new ultra-legible fonts (I love you, Elena), new gestures (psst, swipe right in article view), twilight sepia mode, and the iBooks-like full screen viewing are incredible. Then there’s the fact that 4.1 readies Instapaper for your new Retina iPad.

I was admittedly on the fence about which “read later” service to stick with when Readability launched earlier this month, but this Instapaper update has helped me made a decision. I admire how quickly Marco Arment responded to the competition on his personal blog, but it’s the combination of the new features and the old standbys, which are totally unique to Instapaper (tilt scrolling, the awesome scrollbar, etc.), that have landed me solidly in the Instapaper camp.
