Here’s How to Change Your Mac’s Volume Without Making A Sound

Here’s one of those really useful Mac tips for users who frequently work from libraries: holding the shift key while using the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on your Mac will silence the clack clack clack that usually screams out of the speakers. I usually end up plugging earphones right into the computer to bypass the noise, but this method works much better.

Nice! I typically don’t mind the sound – but sometimes it does get a little annoying – good find!

Hi. I have mac version 10.6.8, and this does not work for me for some reason. I’ve looked around, and can’t seem to find a solution.
