Apple to Add 500 Jobs at Ireland Headquarters, Pour $250 Million Into Oregon Data Center

apple_logo-150x174.jpgA couple of reports have surfaced proving that Apple is still in a expansive phase of growth. First off, Apple is reportedly planning to add an extra 500 jobs to their European headquarters located in Cork, Ireland. This will bring the total number of employees at this location to 3,300.

These jobs will be added over the next 18 months, and this appears to be in addition to the 350 jobs Apple announced would be coming to downtown Cork a year ago.

A second report claims that Apple will be sinking $250 million into a data center site located in Prinevill, Oregon. The company will be offering a $150,000/year “project fee” over the next fifteen years instead of paying taxes. Apple will also be creating 35 jobs at a wage of 150% over the average wage seen in the rest of the county.

Remember, Apple has already spent $5.6 million on the project back in February, and is in the process of installing modular data center, so some infrastructure is in place ahead of the installation’s full buildout. Oh, and the site will be ran on “100% renewable energy”. So there’s that.

Apple is continuously adding jobs and infrastructure. Just in the past year Apple flipped the switch on their data center in Maiden, North Carolina, which now powers the company’s iCloud services. Plus, Apple is ever-expanding their retail stores. This is one company that is constantly on the move.
