Use Pages To Find and Replace Text on iPhone and iPad

 

Here’s something I found out about while reading tutorials on Pages: Pages has find and replace! This is a common desktop computing feature that’s missing in many iOS text editors, and it’s something I’ve sorely missed while writing on the iPad.

Find and replace is one of the best ways to correct multiple mis-spellings or mis-capitalizations of names in your text (e.g. Unibar should be UniBar, or Adonit should be adonit). I used to do all of these corrections manually on the iPad, but now I’ll simply copy all of the draft text in iA Writer, paste it all into Pages for finding and replacing, and then copy the corrected draft back into Writer. This process is definitely more complicated than it is on the Mac due to the lack of a “replace all” button, but it’s still a lot easier than hunting for individual instances of names and correcting them one by one.
