( 4 digit ) So I put my password that I use to unlock my iPod and it didn’t unlock. Instead it said that the password was wrong. And so now I can’t use my NEW iPod that I got last week. 🙁

(both volume sliders on the screen and the buttons on the side.) My son with autism always turns up the volume way too loud.

one of the challenges with disabling the home button is that kids still reach for it and get distracted by it because of its ‘dip’.

there is a great product called a bubcap that we use that covers the home button and instantly my little boy leaves it alone (which is different to when its not covered even if its turned off!!!)

they also do aluminium ones that can be used for trade shows

might be worth checking them out

Lucy

Great tip for those with original iPads. Thanks for sharing that.

Have a look at this: http://zchristopoulos.com/2012/02/how-to-disable-ipad-home-button-kioskstore-demo-mode/ This will allow you to utilize i pad 1 as kiosk device for sure.

I am sure I was not the only one but I am so glad that they listened.

You are of course right about other uses and I am surprised this has not been picked up on more. Everyone getting agitated by retina displays and siri. THIS is a more critical development I feel and one that was so easy to make. Well done Apple.

Such a shame it will not be on the 1G iPad.
