Crow  [ v 1.1 ]

Picked by: Alex Jordan

My pick this week is Crow, a relatively new game for iOS. In the game, you play as a crow, flying about completing objectives, such flying through obstacles, and ultimately fighting a boss at the end of each world. Each world has a theme. For instance, level one is a farm, level two is a snowy plain, level three looks like medieval countryside and so on. The manner in which you play through challenges and boss battles reminds me very much of Nintendo’s Star Fox game franchise.

One way in which Crow differs from Star Fox is the fact that this game gives the player moral choices. This is most true at the end of a boss battle, and the player is left with the option of destroying or sparing the being they just defeated. This adds a (moderate) level of depth to the storyline, while also offering repeat playability. Add this decent storyline, to the unique gameplay, and excellent visuals (for a mobile device anyway), and you have a pretty good game.

As an added bonus, Crow is a universal app. You can play it on either you iPhone or iPad. That said, the game is absolutely gorgeous on the new iPad. For the normal $2.99 price tag, it’s defiantly worth a look.  However, right now it’s on sale for only $0.99!

● Immersive story line

● Meaningful player choice

● Stunning 3D graphics

● Visceral combat

● Sweeping musical score

● Support for the new iPad Retina Display

$0.99 [ iTunes ]
