Mountain Lion: How To Get ‘Save As’ Back on the File Menu

One of the changes that I disliked the most when upgrading to OS X Lion was the dropping of the ‘Save As’ option from the File Menu. Unfortunately, this change has persisted in the latest version of the Mac operating system, Mountain Lion.

It’s worth noting that you can still get to the Save As action by holding down the Option key while clicking on the File menu – but I can honestly say that I have tended to forget that far more often than I have remembered it and had tended to kludge my way around the need for it instead.

Until I saw this super-useful and easy tip posted by TJ Luoma at TUAW recently. This gets Save As back in its full glory on the File menu. It also remaps the keyboard shortcut for the ‘Duplicate’ item in the File menu, as Luoma has no plans to ever use it. Amen to that, I’ve never felt any need or desire for that command.
