Took my brand new samsung s3, having dropped the phone, i accepted that warranty wouldn’t cover me. I go into the store with my phone, and get told that it would be $230 and i would have my phone in two days… and that i would get a call the next day to get confirmation to go ahead with it… i didnt get a call back, i called and three days later they tell me the technician hasnt yet seen it and that they would keep me updated on the status of the phone. I wait another two days, and still nothing!! mind you the customer service reps are bloody douches, they give the bare minimum of information and just leave you hanging. its been a week now, and im still phoneless with no back up! i regret it! apple would have rectified this problem in a efficient amount of time and a lot cheaper!

It’s the black/blue model so if there are stress cracks I can’t see them. All I know is that I dropped it the other day and broke the folio case I bought from AT&T. When I went to buy a new one the woman at the store said it was covered under warrant and just handed me a new case. Now granted, that’s not quite the same thing as if I’d broken the phone. You break an iPhone out of warranty, take it to the apple store and they hand you a replacement for $150. Which in my mind is a pretty good deal.
I’ve read several “horror” stories about Samsung customer service that may make some think twice before investing in thier products. But I really love this phone, and I think my wife’s galaxy S3 is pretty neat too. So they do have some great products. There’s lots of horror stories about apple floating around too, so buyer beware. Sooner or later someone is going to piss you off

None of them have been sound in terms of hardware: case problems, GPS problems, screen problems. The CPUs weren’t a problem, but Samsung didn’t make them.

Add to that the fact that Android had enough little bugs & problems: I’ll stick with the smaller screen mated to a great device , software, & support.

While the iPhone 5 isn’t out yet, based upon the video I saw of the leaked replacement screen vs the Galaxy SIII screen – it’s definitely a lot smaller. For those of us who have used a bigger device – being that much smaller isn’t necessarily a good thing.

Since this is an Apple site… and some folks may not know – TWLauncher is the TouchWiz Launcher process. Basically the Samsung build launcher on Android. For Samsung tech support to say that’s some third party process and not theirs – well that says a lot about the level of competence from support.

Keep the office of the president’s email handy. Photograph your device before shipping it, photograph it. When receiving your device, have someone record you picking it up. Then quickly, with camera still recording, unopen the box and unpack the phone from it. Pan around and video tape the condition of the device, looking for any physical damage. Also open the back and look at the little dot near the battery compartment for any change in color which will indicate water damage.

it seems like this is what you have to do with Samsung, the sleazy Tiger Direct like company of mobile devices.

I say boycott Samsung, but what are you going to do? the iphone 5 is puny. HTC has no external memory or external battery. What are our options?

I couldn’t agree more. Maybe some people are just born lucky that you never hear from them on the boards or elsewhere. Samsung is atrocious in Customer Service, especially in North America. Their devices are inferior. I don’t care how fast they may perform in benchmarks. Their reliability is the worst. There is a reason why they are pushing out the devices for free. To mislead skeptics and those not in the know that they are selling a lot. However, selling does not mean profiting. Unlike with iPhone, their products may not be the best out there in terms of performance, yet it works synergistically with the rest of the device. It’s pure harmony. If you’ve ever had any problem with your device, you’re almost always treated like royality. You’re a very valued customer. Can you say the same about Samsung? Absolutely not. I had a tech hang up on me when I asked to speak to his supervisor because he was saying that the TWlauncher process was not part of Samsung, but some other third party app I downloaded. Again, you don’t treat customers this way. And for this reason, Samsung is trying to manipulate people into thinking their devices are plenty because they’re good. Ha! Both Brandon and I know this is not the case.

I’m on an iPhone 4s for the time being – until I unload that for something else. Not sure if it’ll be an iPhone 5 or some other device.

The biggest dilemma for me right now is what do you get (besides the iPhone) that has any kind of local reliable warranty support?

The president email is out there already so here you go:

President@sta.samsung.com

As for phone numbers – unfortunately I didn’t keep those written down.

You don’t have to send your iPhone away to get fixed or assessed. You go to the Apple store they look at the defect and replace it. All within an hour or less.

I know there are a lot of us considering buying this phone. I would love to see you post the phone numbers/e-mails that would help Samsung customers get to the customer service decision makers faster.

Love that quote as well… nice rant! Apples customer service is way better than anyone’s I’ve ever used. It’s almost unfortunate that their products are so good, you hardly ever have to use it.
