
For the longest time I’ve wondered why Apple has allowed for different podcast playback speeds on their iPods and iPhones, but not on the Mac. There are occasions when you want to speed up (or even slow down) an episode. So, there I sat the other day, listening to the latest episode of Hypercritical with John Siracusa, and I really wanted to speed things up, but didn’t want to skip forward and risk missing something. I began searching around and I found this nifty little script from Jeff Porten (via Macworld) that allows you to change the speed a track is played.
If you are so adventurous, and know how to create AppleScripts, this little piece of software will solve a problem that Apple could easily fix. It’s a little hack-y, and the podcast episode plays in QuickTime player, but it does the trick.
