Here is quick tip for those of us that are already fed up with the new Maps app built into iOS 6. Well, there is a stopgap that you can evoke- the Google Maps web app. You can “install” this app by navigating to to maps.google.com on your iPhone, tap the share menu, and then tap “Add to Home Screen”.
From there, you can access the iPhone-optimized version of Google Maps. It’s not great, but it will have to do for the time being. Still, there are reports that Google has submitted a native Google Maps app to the App Store, which is awaiting approval. Apple claims that they are working to make their new Maps app better, and that the team in charge of the service is currently “under lockdown”.
